Rev Richard’s Pastoral Letter- May 6, 2020

6 May 2020

The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
[1 John 4:4]

Dear Incarnation Family:

I pray you are doing well and adapting to the altered landscape.

Amid the changes, please pause and reflect on how it is affecting you. Major life changes are universally regarded as stressors. How we approach the pandemic determines our ability to navigate it.

While it is important to look within ourselves, we don’t want to get stuck there. It’s helpful to observe our thoughts, feeling and urges and to accept them for what they are. We then can choose to let them pass like passing clouds.

We have all we need to do what is helpful and best, because Jesus is in us by the Holy Spirit. Jesus invites us to TRUST in the magnitude of his love and the power of his resurrection. The one who is in us in greater than all that confronts us, including COVID-19 and our own brokenness. Not only is Christ within us, but he also surrounds us in his powerful love.

In the words of the prayer, St. Patrick’s Breastplate:

Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me, Christ within me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ at my right, Christ at my left ….

In this truth we can confidently face whatever may come.

Please email or call me if I can help in any way [ ; 647.719.4230].

God’s Peace,
